JAMES C. SCHAEFFER

Jim Schaeffer has been a successful trial attorney for over 35 years, and is highly regarded for his courtroom skills and his knowledge of healthcare law. He has represented physicians, physician groups and other healthcare professionals in all types of cases throughout Southern and Central California. He has also represented physicians in numerous Medical Board matters. He has tried over 60 jury trials to verdict and has earned the trust and respect of clients and peers through his courtroom skills and attention to detail.

Jim graduated from San Joaquin College of Law with distinction, and from California State University, Fresno, summa cum laude. Jim is a frequent speaker at medical and legal conferences. He has been asked to address physicians and hospitals on a wide variety of topics including Risk Management, MICRA, EMTALA and the ongoing changes to the healthcare industry.

Jim was born and raised in the Central Valley and now resides in Ventura County. In his spare time, he can be found reading a good book on American History, playing trombone in a local jazz band or camping and fishing with his family at his favorite spots in the Sierras.

Jim is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management (SCAHRM).
